Hillside Forestry Mulching Nearly Complete on This Big One

This one was a serious job. A heavily overgrown hillside covered in dense brush and scrubby growth - the kind of terrain that most equipment won't touch. That's exactly where forestry mulching shines, and our CAT 275 was built for it.

Working a steep slope like this takes more than just horsepower. The machine has to stay stable, the operator has to stay sharp, and sometimes things don't go perfectly. We had a track come off mid-job - happens on rough terrain - so we got the crew out to get it back on and kept pushing. That's just part of working in the field.

What we ended up with is a hillside that's mostly mulched clean. The thick undergrowth is gone, the ground is covered in a clean layer of shredded material, and the existing trees that were worth keeping are still standing. No hauling debris off-site, no burning, no piles of slash left behind. The mulch stays in place and actually does the soil some good.

Brush clearing on a hillside this size isn't a one-person, one-day kind of deal. It takes the right machine, the right team, and the willingness to work through the setbacks that come with rough terrain. We're wrapping this one up strong.
