A lot of landowners have ground that slowly gets away from them. The brush creeps in, the understory thickens up, and before long a piece of property that used to be open and usable turns into a wall of overgrowth. That's exactly the kind of situation we came out to address on this Squires, Missouri property.

We ran a CAT 299D3 track loader fitted with a forestry mulching head through the wooded hillside areas. That combo is well-suited for this kind of work - tracked machines handle sloped terrain well, and the mulching head processes everything on the spot. No hauling, no burning, no piles of debris sitting around waiting to be dealt with.

That's one of the biggest advantages of forestry mulching over other clearing methods. Everything that gets cut gets ground up right where it stands and laid back down on the ground. It actually helps hold moisture and protect the soil - especially useful on sloped ground where you don't want bare dirt washing away after a rain.

What we ended up with here is a cleaned-up wooded area where you can actually see through the trees, move around, and use the land. The mature timber stays standing. The junk growth underneath is gone. The ground is covered in a natural mulch layer instead of a mess of slash piles.

If you've got ground in Missouri that's gotten overgrown and you're not sure where to start, this kind of work is worth considering. It's efficient, it leaves the property in good shape, and it opens things up faster than most people expect.
